First Commander: Franklin H. Clack, COL

Field Officers: Gabriel A. FOURNET, MAJ; Valsin A. FOURNET, LTC

Assignments: District of West Louisiana, Trans-Mississippi Department (Oct 62); MOUTON’s Brigade, District of West Louisiana, Trans-Mississippi Department (Oct-Nov 62)

Battle: Georgia Landing, near Labadieville (October 27, 1862)

From Bergeron, La. Confed. Units, 146:

"This regiment was organized near Donaldsonville about October 10, 1862, by the consolidating of the 10th [Yellow Jackets] and 12th [Confederate Guards Response] Louisiana battalions. Most of the regiment remained near Donaldsonville performing picket duty along the Mississippi River below the town. A portion of the regiment occupied the post at Bayou Des Allemands. On October 25, the men near Donaldsonville fell back down Bayou Lafourche when a large enemy force landed south of the town. They participated in the Battle of Labadieville, October 27. Though the records are sketchy, it appears most of these men retreated from their position without putting up a fight. The regiment was reunited several days later at Brashear City and retreated with the army to Bisland on Bayou Teche. On November 23, General Richard Taylor broke up the regiment and restored the battalion organizations, largely because of the discontent created by the consolidation."
