Acadian chronology (1604-1755 here) will be based largely on Naomi E. S. Griffith's magisterial
From Immigrant to Acadian: A North American Border People 1604-1755
(Montréal & Kingston: McGill-Queen's University Press, 2005). A more
detailed chronology of Le Grand Dérangement (1755-1785 here), compiled by
Paul Delaney, can be found on the website <acadian-home.org>.
The most detailed histories of the Acadians in Louisiana (1764-1865 here) are
Carl A. Brasseaux's The Founding of
New Acadia: The Beginnings of Acadian Life in Louisiana,
1765-1803 (Baton Rouge & London: Louisiana State University Press,
1987), and the sequel, Acadian
to Cajun: Transformation of
a People, 1803-1877 (Jackson
& London:
