Stirling's Plantation, LA

September 29, 1863

Site of Stirling's Plantation on northeast side of the highway. The battle took place to the right rear of the camera, on the opposite side of the road from the plantation.

Battlefield, looking southwest. The willow trees to the left of the road grow where the Norwood Sugar Mill stood. The Norwood Place was to the left rear of the camera. The final Confederate attack began in this vicinity and the Federals were pushed back to the Norwood Place where heavy fighting occurred.
