Pleasant Hill, LA

April 9, 1864

Walker's division attacked from the woods in front towards the camera. The position of the camera is what was at that time the Main Street of the village of Pleasant Hill. The attack began on the far side of the woods and the Confederates pushed the Federals back into the village. Churchill's division attacked to the left rear through pine woods, on the other side of the Mansfield Road, driving the Federals there back into Main Street near this position, creating chaos on the streets.
